Office Team

Marla Beck, CSA, CPA inactive, Owner and President

Marla has over 35 years experience in the service sector of business in the local Puget Sound area. She has a business degree from the University of Washington and started her career as a CPA. She has worked for a variety of firms including Arthur Andersen, Washington Mutual, Bon Marche, United Way and Bank of America. Just prior to starting Andelcare, Marla was Vice President of Private Client Services for Marsh & McLennan, a fortune 500 company. Having a very well rounded background includes being a Certified Senior Advisor which enables her to meet the key needs and issues concerning mature adults. Her life experiences which include being a two time cancer survivor make her uniquely qualified to deal with the many issues that come up for clients and their family members when age or disability affects their independence. Marla started this company as a way of giving back to the memory of her own grandparents and her father that she misses very much. Seniors have so much wisdom and insight but our culture is so focused on the young that we tend to ignore our elders. Marla feels that seniors are not given the respect and care they deserve and in her own way is trying to correct this.

Marla is active in the Fred Hutch Magnolia Guild, Seattle Art Museum Supporters, Case Management Society of America, Overlake Elsie Barker Auxiliary, Senior Care Coalition, National Private Duty Association, Washington Private Duty Association, Eastside Providers, Coordinators of Patient Care, Women's Business Exchange, E-women Network, Women's President Organization, SOVREN Guild of Children's Hospital, Mill Creek Network and The Rainier Club. She is a founding member of the Rainier Club's Executive Women's Roundtable Breakfast whose purpose is to build community across industries and generations. Andelcare is a member of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Association of Washington Business, the Better Business Bureau and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Karen, Director

I am responsible for the successful operation of the day-to-day activities which includes maintaining our high level of quality care. I have over 30 years of business experience which includes 15 years in management positions. I'm considered the "bionic woman" with 8 joint replacements which allows me to successfully empathize with our clients who need in-home assistance after surgeries and illnesses. Caring for my terminally ill mother and volunteering at assisted living facilities for several years led to my desire to work with seniors. I've always wanted to make a difference in people's lives and this job affords me that opportunity. I enjoy time with my husband Jim, playing with our dog, reading, volunteering at church, playing the piano, gardening, and traveling (have been to all 50 states except 4).

Carol, Administrative/Field Coordinator

I definitely understand the need for nurturing others. I started my own daycare specializing with special needs children and when my children were old enough, I worked out of the home as a dental assistant. Missing the interaction with children, I returned to my passion of working with deaf and special needs children in the Lake Washington School District and then retired to work with seniors. I'm married to Bill and together we have three grown daughters, three dogs and a cat. I love to take nature walks, work in the yard, trips to the ocean, and go for boat rides around Puget Sound. Many of these activities have been put on hold lately due to caring for my elderly mother.

Cindy, Bookkeeper

If you are a client and you receive a bill for services or if you are an employee and you receive a paycheck then you have seen my work, even though it is unlikely that you have ever seen me in person. I worked as an accountant in the banking industry and as a financial analyst for the FBI. For the past ten years, I have been a stay at home mom and volunteer, which has kept me plenty busy. I currently serve as President of the Seattle Art Museum Supporters. As a member of the Overlake Service League, I serve on the Educational Grants committee and coordinate the Thanksgiving and Christmas Adopt-a-family programs. I also serve as a Deacon at my church and as Community Service Chair at my children's school. Working at Andelcare is fun, rewarding and has been interesting to learn a new industry that I believe strongly in. As a matter of fact, the reason I stopped working full time many years ago was to care for a sick family member. Because of this, I can relate to both our clients and our caregivers. Married for over nineteen years, I have two children who are young teens. In my "spare" time, I enjoy art, travel, books and hiking. A favorite personal achievement was climbing Mt. Rainier in 2008.

Chris, Client Relations Director

I am the Client Relations Director, with over 15 years of healthcare experience. I'm excited to be at Andelcare. I've always enjoyed the education piece of healthcare, and in my role I'm excited to have the opportunity to teach people about great, much needed options available to give people the help and support they need to stay independent longer. I'm a board member and volunteer with Kirkland Concours d'Elegance. My husband Ryan and I have two wonderful kids who keep us very busy with sports and activities. We also enjoy family trips - snow skiing, water skiing, and camping.

Christina, Care Supervisor

I originally started off answering phones at Andelcare. In addition, I now match our clients to the great caregivers we have on staff. Collecting all the information we receive during client assessments and caregiver interviews we strive to find the best personality match possible. When I am not at work or school I enjoy being with family and friends doing something outside, trying new foods, or playing board games.

Nichole, On-call Supervisor

I am the voice you hear when you call the office in the evenings or on the weekends. I have previously worked as the Director of Social Services at a nursing home and as a preschool teacher. My upbringing and educational background have molded me into a very compassionate individual. I have a strong commitment to customer service and to making sure our caregivers and clients are well taken care of, even at 2 AM! For the past 3 years I have been a stay at home mom to two young children. My husband and I have been together for over 14 years and when I'm not chasing after two toddlers, I spend my time caring for my disabled mother, baking cupcakes, selling cosmetics and going to the gym. I am very excited to be working for a company that allows me the opportunity to work from home, as I have realized that being back in the work force is very rewarding in more ways than one!

Amy, Care Coordinator

I am the first voice you probably hear when you are calling the office. I lived in Chicago, IL for 13 years and finished school at Rockford Business College in Business Management and Accounting. I've been in a few fields of employment from insurance to telecommunications and by far; Andelcare is where I know I want to be. Knowing that I am able to help those who are in need is life enriching. Listening to stories from both our Caregivers and our Clients takes me back to when I was with my grandmother. Now that I know a great deal of missing someone so much can be very difficult, I love the fact that Andelcare can help bring peace and comfort in our client's life.

When I am not at work, I enjoy being in the sun and staying active. I enjoy many outings with my friends and family. I have many plans of staying healthy and active so I have decided to take on hiking around the great mountains of Washington State!

Eileen, Client Care Coordinator

I've always had a passion for making a difference in people's lives, and I love that my work at Andelcare allows me to do so. I am usually the first person our clients and their families meet with, so I'm the first face they see from Andelcare. I strive to make our clients' home care experience as easy and comfortable as possible, and my goal is to ensure that we provide a well matched caregiver for their needs. I hold a bachelors degree in Psychology from Gonzaga University, and I previously worked with developmentally disabled adults for 2 years outside of college. I have a personal understanding of all that care-giving entails through supporting my sister, who lives with multiple sclerosis. When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking road trips, cooking, writing, and experiencing new things.
